Meet the Family: Westboro Baptist Edition
If we look at the world, we see many different religions and good people who are part of them. As we look farther, there are parts of religions that have people who are just plain crazy. There are radicals in every religion, whether they are blowing up buildings in the name of G-d or trying to say that he hates the world and that they’re the chosen ones to be G-d’s chosen ones and the rest of us are doomed. The first group of radicals are in the middle east and parts of other countries while the second group mostly resides in America, they’re the Westboro Baptist Church. If crazy had a picture by the definition of it in the dictionary, Fred Phelps and his daughter would be there with wide and toothy grins on their face.
Whether it is the preaching, crazy church members, or the picket signs; these people scream “crazy”. They stand on street corners telling people who G-d hates America, Jews are doomed, gays and their “enablers”, and to pray for more dead soldiers. That pretty much makes me think that the people who go to this church are completely nuts. They preach that the bible is what fuels their anger and that God is pissed.

First up is their newest website http://www.godhatestheworld.com/. Basically it is a website that gives reasons why each country in the world is doomed. It has reasons based on their religion, what people have done, and of course if they support the gays. There is a long article on why the United States is doomed, you’d think that if they hated this country so much that they’d get out and go somewhere else.

Basically, all of the things that they do make them one of the most hated families and churches in the world. Wishing for death, punishment to people trying to help minority groups under pressure get their voice, and saying that everything bad that happens to us is deserved is the wrong message to be delivering in a church. Baptists are a Christian denomination which means that the new testament applies to their teachings. If you’ve heard songs like “Jesus Loves Me” and “Jesus Loves The Little Children”, you’d know that Christians also believe in a loving God which this group doesn’t seem to get. This group of people are not even real Christians to be honest. I can give you tons of examples in the new testament that display the message that we should all love one another.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world,that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8 “…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 8:37-39 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What Did Jesus Say About Love
Matthew 5:43-48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 6:24-25 ”No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

I think that we get the message that the teachings that Christians abide by basically tell them to love one another. The golden rule even says that you should do unto others as you would want done to yourself. Karma is karma and the Westboro Baptist church will have a nice toasty space in Hell next to Satan for their actions toward humanity.
Remember, there are many different types of crazies in this world but the Phelps tend to be at the #1 spot most of the time.
